15 december 2015 - Nazret, Ethiopië

iDear all, you will notice that I'm writing in English now, so I don't have to write a daily report twice.

Sleeping in the hotel (Safary Lodge) is better than our previus hotel in earlyer missions, because we don't hear the traffic and trucks on the main road now.

After a nice shower and breakfest at 8:00 dr Adafa from the University of Adama came to out lodge. Dr. Asafa was one of the first contacts we had on the start of the project 3 years ago. He is also a national Ethiopien parliament member so he has good contacts  with municipality councel and ministerys. From the begining he was very interested in the project, gave advisements and arranged several appointments that we otherwise never would have get done. We prepared a workshop training for thursday for the managers and and members of the stirring group (decision makers) to learn more about the posibilities of recource recovery like compost and nutrient fertilizers from waste. Leaf (Wageningen University) develloped a kind of training game for this purpose.

We also talked about the last meeting of this project at the end of the week and handover the project to the municipality. Our projectmanager and dr. Asava visited the city administrator (gemeente secretaris) to talk over the workshop and the last meeting of the project. Withe the rest of the team we discussed the results of a pilot and the options for a wastewater treatment plant (WTP) of the entire city 275.000 citizens with Skiffle, a local enthousiastic wastwater enginear.

In the afternoon we visited the construction of the public toilet at the busstation. The wastewater of the toilet is treated in a septictank and a lavabed filter (IBAklasse 2). Then a sink pith to lead it in the ground.

With Kokeb the technical engineer of the municipality we went to the lowest part of the city. This part is flooded every year. Then the people leave there homes for three month and then come back. A tipical advising job for the dutch waterboards. We agreed that we will propose it as a sub- project in a follow up program.

So in this evening we discussed the results of this day. We now know that the workshop will be tomorrow.
